Top 5 Coffee Shops For Remote Workers In Lubbock, TX And Ones You Should Probably Avoid

As a musician and remote worker, I am always on the hunt for new places to adventure to and get out of the house. However, many factors often play a part in my decision of which coffee shop I choose to venture to. Beyond coffee taste - environment, seating, access to plugs, approachableness of staff all configure into my reasoning for choosing my next place. In this article, I’m going to dive into the best of the best coffee shops I have found for remote workers that are worth investing in your “daily rent” (Golden Rule - 1 Purchase For Every 3 Hours Of Time Spent) if you are looking to get out of the house for some coffee in Lubbock, TX.

It should be noted: None of these are sponsored or paid posts and are purely of my personal experience. If you think of a specific coffee shop that should be on the list, feel free to contact me via the form on this site.

Best Coffee Shops For Remote Workers In Lubbock, TX

1. He-Brews Coffee - 2709 Marshall St, Lubbock, TX 79415

Out near McKenzie Park, this has to be one of the ultimate “Retreat” style coffee shops with lots of spaces both indoor and outdoor and a view overlooking conquistador lake. You will have to work around many college students but many are there for studying and I have never had an issue finding seating.

2. Nashwell Cafe - 1212 Avenue K, Lubbock, TX 79401

Nashwell provides a fun professional urban atmosphere with beautiful art and a delightful coffee aroma. It is definitely a place that welcomes remote workers and they even have a co-work option available.

The only caveat is the city of Lubbock has an unrealistic restriction of 1 hour parking right in front of it. So you have to park around the corner off Ave J if you are going to be there for any length of time.

3. Sugar Browns Coffee Co. - 6701 Indiana Ave Suite A, Lubbock, TX 79413

Sugar Browns is a great coffee shop truly focused on developing real relationships. Many people meet here for mentorship opportunities and bible studies. Wall Plugs are limited in availability to 4 tables. Though, I have always seen them available and open and generally the last ones taken. Ask the staff for “something special”. Their coffee creations are really solid even when they go rogue.

4. The Spins Vinyl Cafe - 1947 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79401

Has a great vibe with the unique fan designs and vinyl lining the walls. About half the seats have access to plugs which is a win. It is located right across from Lubbock High School touching close to Avenue Q and 19th and parking is limited to about 8 spots.

5. Brewed Awakening Coffee Lounge - 1021 University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79401

Excellent hidden gem right across from Tech Campus. Lots of room to find a good spot and get some work done. Parking is limited to one hour and they will ticket. So I recommend trying to find street parking not on University Ave, which can make this a difficult spot.

Also, I have only ever witnessed college students coming through as it is just a walk over from campus. So you will likely be a lone wolf in a sea full of students.

Coffee Shops For Remote Workers - Honorable Mentions

1. Market Street - 4425 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79407

While not officially a coffee shop (Just an internal starbucks), the space they provide is large and has access to plugs with both indoor and patio seating. It can be a great place to get work done. Warning: Lunch time between 11:30am - 1:00pm gets very busy and loud and may not be great for meetings.

2. J&B Coffee House - 2701 26th St, Lubbock, TX 79410

The gem of Lubbock coffee houses. It is honestly one of the most unique spaces with plenty of access to seating. Why does it not rank #1? I can’t think of a single time this place has not been packed to the brim with people. It is always maxed out even with their back room and upstairs spaces.

Still great coffee, service, and people - there is a reason people flood this place. The Volume doesn’t always make it conducive to a remote work environment.

3. Gold Stripe Coffee Roasters (Cactus Alley) - 2610 Salem Ave Ste 5, Lubbock, TX 79410

Probably one of my favorite Coffee Shops in town from flavor profile to vibes. It is smaller however and typically quite hopping with many different individuals from all walks of life during all times of the day. Plugs are somewhat limited and it is impossible to hide amongst everyone.

4. Yellow City Grind- 6524 Slide Rd, Lubbock, TX 79424

Newer Surprisingly Large Coffee Shop Attached To Quarter Four. The original location is in Amarillo, TX. I can say this is a great place for studying and community. If you need access to a plug, you are pretty much stuck along the bar wall in one of 8 high stool seatings. Fancy coffee beverages is their specialty and I would stay in that vein if I were you.

5. Ninety-Two Bakery & Cafe - 6303 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424

Impressive 10/10 coffee shop and bakery. Coffee is amazing, Food is great, Good amount of tables, environment is stellar… So why is it an honorable mention? Because it is packed every hour of the day and I always feel like it is a competition to get the seating you need. The last 2 times I have tried to go here, I have ended up leaving because every seat near an outlet was taken. I think this is a great place, but you have to get here early!

Coffee Shops For Remote Workers To Avoid In Lubbock, TX

Paint Rock Coffee Co. - 2002 Broadway St, Lubbock, TX 79401

Paint Rock is definitely the most unique and special coffee shop I have been to with their floating chairs, indoor turf, and floral decor. I can see a lot of college students studying here. However, they definitely cater to females in their environment and presence and will start to give you the glare if you have overstayed your welcome. Great spot to visit, but for conversations not getting work done.

Monomyth - 2024 Broadway St, Lubbock, TX 79401

Voted best independent coffee shop in the country by USA Today… Their coffee is actually fire and delicious… Why avoid it as a remote employee? Straight simple: The seating is so uncomfortable and they have one tiny bathroom that I don’t always trust the lock on. It’s an older building so some of these things come with the territory, but it’s definitely one I avoid for anything longer than a 30 minute coffee chat.

Gold Stripe Coffee Roasters (First Bank Location) - 9816 Slide Rd #102, Lubbock, TX 79424

This shop is located in the First Bank & Trust building and provides delicious and strong coffee drips with plenty of parking. However, the seating is limited and leaves something to be desired while pushing you out into the lobby of the building. I have heard their other location is more appealing for such things but have not been yet.

Ooo La la Lattes - 2902 Slide Rd, Lubbock, TX 79407

This is a drive thru shop and you will be surprised when baristas are clothed in cute outfits, bikinis, and lingeries. The size of their cups is literally labeled with “Bra Sizes” A Cup to DD Cup. Not the kind of spot you want for remote work.
