Top 5 Christian Rock Bands Currently Based In Texas

Sitting square in the bible belt, Texas, has long been a staple in establishing bands in the Christian Rock Bands. Larger bands like Seventh Day Slumber, Flyleaf, and David Crowder Band all began their humble roots in Texas but no longer claim Texas as their main state with many having moved closer to Nashville, TN. Still, there remain a few strong bands that are sure to get the room moving while also bringing the Holy spirit to the stage.

For clarification, we’re considering a few things here in this evaluation.

1. The energy level of the music must qualify as some sort of rock or rock sub genre.

2. Their willingness to share the gospel or personal testimony from the stage.

3. Lastly, their location plays a big part, as we attempted to not choose bands from one specific region in Texas in order to assist with full Texas representation

Zahna - Houston, TX (Pop Metal)

Zahna is a powerhouse vocalist reigning from Houston signed to XOVR records independent record label co-founded by famously Christian guitarist of Korn Brian "Head" Welch. Not only does she spend time at the top of the charts, but has also opened for large acts and festivals. She spans the gap of pop metal to aggressive scream vocals in a way that is reminiscent of the legendary female fronted Emo bands of the 00’s like Evanescence and Paramore working with producers like Kellen McGregor of Memphis May Fire and Cory Brunnemann of Through Arteries.

Her shows fill people with energy and excitement for what is to come. She also occasionally serves on the worship team at her own church. Zahna is a hard rock force of nature who has passed through death itself and you should definitely book her or see her on tour in the future.

Drive Thru Society - Denton, TX (Violin Metalcore)

Drive Thru Society is a Christian violin metalcore band from Denton, TX. Meg and Greg Hudson (vocals and guitar), Kathy Crabtree-Moore and Michael Moore (violin and guitar), and drummer Miles Ramsey bring high-octane performances to crowds all around the United States, from Wisconsin's Lifest to Indiana's Kingdom Come Fest.

Having worked with producers like Travis Wyrick (P.O.D., Disciple) and Cory Brunnemann (Upon a Burning Body, Zahna) Their sound is characterized by a unique blend of symphonic strings, endlessly-singable melodies, and heavy guitar riffs that are sure to rock the stage, excite the audience, and bring a holy spirit infusion from above.

The Daytime Rivalry - Lubbock, TX  (Alternative Pop/Punk)

The Daytime Rivalry spent his adolescence in the Wind and Flat Lands of West Texas, obsessed with the liner notes of Tooth & Nail CDs and the raw energy of early 2000s alternative.

Blending the heart of a worship leader with the grit of nostalgic emo, His music is a bridge between the spiritual and the cinematic. It’s a sound built on trading Johnnie Walker for an Epiphone Les Paul and finding the divine in the distortion.

Not even a year into the game his music is clearing tens of thousands of streams, consistently garnering radio play around the nation, and playing prominent festivals such as Audiofeed Music Festival. With that in mind, He isn’t chasing the numbers—he’s chasing the same feeling he had as a kid ripping and burning CDs in his bedroom: the hope that his words might finally mean something to someone else.

Medical Morning - Austin, TX (ShoeGaze)

Medical Morning is an independent Christian shoegaze and post-rock music project based out of Austin, Texas. Created and fronted by musician and producer Travis Estes, the project occupies a unique, niche space in contemporary music, frequently prompting the question from its creator: "Is this a shoegaze record or a worship record?"

Medical Morning blends the ethereal, wall-of-sound textures of traditional shoegaze and ambient post-rock with deeply spiritual and reflective lyrics. Characterized by swirling, reverb-drenched guitars, atmospheric electronics, and introspective vocals, the music explores themes of faith, brokenness, and divine presence. It departs radically from the polished, radio-friendly style of standard contemporary Christian music (CCM), carving out an avant-garde subgenre often referred to by listeners as "shoegaze worship" or “alternative Christian.”

Becoming Sons - San Antonio, TX (Hard Rock / Metal)

Becoming Sons originates from San Antonio, Texas. This five-member metal band artfully merges melodic, groove, thrash, and metalcore elements to forge a distinctive sound known as “Metal Praise Core”.

Initially formed by a group of individuals in a San Antonio church room to play for their worship team, the band evolved into a heavier musical entity over time, experiencing lineup changes and achieving notable accolades, including the number one Loud song on the Christian Music Weekly Loud/Metal Charts for 16 straight weeks with the successful entry "Illuminate".

The band's name derives from Romans 8:12-14, which emphasizes living in the Spirit and becoming Sons of God by putting the flesh to death. Celebrated for their high-energy performances, Becoming Sons engages audiences, whether they are first-time attendees or longstanding fans.

As you can see, Christian Rock music is alive and well in Texas. All but one of these bands are actively booking shows and we would recommend you reach out to them. We have included all of their emails for booking below so you can easily access those.
