LUBBOCK, TX | Sept 30th, 2025 – Today, Sept 30th, The Daytime Rivalry released a single with none other than Christian Hip Hop Veteran and Legend, KJ-52. With a recent shift from full-time music to pastoring, KJ-52 has still been consistently releasing music over the last decade just at a slower clip. With this being The Daytime Rivalry’s second song ever, getting a feature of this caliber is a testament to the potential of TDR.
Having first heard the rapper at the age of 10, Tim Robinson (The Primary Singer/Songwriter of TDR) writes directly about that experience in the song Lost Boy. His lyrics of 10 years old in a volkswagen bus is literally where he first experienced KJ-52’s music after a childhood friend played him a song.
When he learned that the opportunity for a KJ-52 feature was actually possible, he actually had to put it on his credit card because he didn’t have the funds, but knew God would provide and couldn’t pass up the opportunity. After Writing, Re-writing, and re-writing he went to bed the night before the scheduled recording session without knowing the song he was going to record the next day.
“I went to bed the night before not knowing what song I was going to record this next morning. When I woke up at 6am, it was like an instant download from God and I laid out lost boy in the next 15 minutes.”
The final version of “Lost Boy Ft. KJ-52” is a uniquely dark nostalgic callback to his personal experiences with a balance of his love for Music and his relationship with Christ. Both of which he credits with Saving him. It serves as a single for the upcoming 6-song EP from The Daytime Rivalry.
(Disclaimer: No Ai was used in this process — just pure raw nostalgia.)
